The University of Manchester at Harwell

Accessing equipment and support

The University of Manchester at Harwell team owns equipment that Manchester users and other collaborating partners can use to support their experimental work at the national facilities. Some of this equipment includes:

  • Oxford Lasers Ltd micromachining system for sample preparation
  • A range of rigs for in situ tension and compression testing and heating
  • X-ray colour imaging system
  • Offline facility for testing equipment before mounting on beamline

Please note this equipment is only available for use at Harwell and cannot be taken off-site.

Technical support and data analysis

Our specialist team of support scientists, engineers and data analysts can assist with the preparation and performance of your experiments at Harwell. We can also advise on the health and safety requirements set by the national facilities for high risk experiments.
