The University of Manchester at Harwell

Accessing equipment and support

We provide technical support for high risk or challenging experiments carried out by national facilities users from The University of Manchester and the wider research community.

Experiments we support include the study of toxic materials, energetic materials, active and irradiated materials, and design and fielding of extreme sample environments for beamline experiments.  In collaboration with national facilities, other national laboratories and UoMaH fellows we have also developed bespoke sample environments and specialised containment that can be used stand-alone or within existing, available deformation devices.

We operate and maintain several pieces of equipment that can be used either for off-line measurements that complement X-ray or neutron experiments or which are used for in situ experiments on beamlines.

Technical support and data analysis

Our specialist team of support scientists, engineers and data analysts can assist with the preparation and performance of your experiments at Harwell. We can also advise on the health and safety requirements set by the national facilities for high risk experiments.

If you wish to use our equipment or require technical support in your research at Harwell, please contact us.
